- San Gimignano is an ancient Medieval hamlet in the province of Siena. It is known for its vernaccia (a white wine) and for its towers. It stands out on a hill which overlook the Val d’Elsa. The historic centre is a Unesco World Heritage and you just have to walk inside the village in order to admire its beauty... just walk its streets, its stairways, its small tiny streets and the squares. Among the several churches we recommend the churches of San Pietro, San Bartolo, San Jacopo, the Collegiata of Santa Maria Assunta and Sant’Agostino which hosts the frescoes of Benozzo Cozzoli. Also the Museums of the Holy Arts, the Etruscan one and the Pinacoteca deserve a visit.
